Uterine manipulation

The Mangeshikar Uterine Manipulator offers precise uterine manipulation throughout the surgical procedure. The Pozzi jaws integrated into the end of the manipulator enable the surgeon to securely clamp onto the cervix, and lock this fixation using a locking module. Once the cervix has been grasped, the uterus can be easily manipulated to isolate it from other surrounding organs such as the bladder, ureter or rectum during the operation.

Unlike plastic domes that can melt under the effect of the cutting current, the Mangeshikar vaginal dome features a white ceramic ring that is particularly resistant to heat. In addition to its sturdiness, this ceramic ring acts as a clear visual marker for the surgeon, enabling him to follow the cutting line with precision and secure every step of the hysterectomy. This dual function – strength and visibility – contributes to a safer, perfectly controlled procedure.

Pneumoperitoneum maintenance

Once the hysterectomy has been performed, the surgeon must sew up the tissues laparoscopically. To do this, it is essential to keep the abdomen inflated in order to maintain a stable operating field. The vaginal dome, left in place in the vagina, combined with the gasket and a closing plug, helps preserve gas in the abdomen. This seal ensures optimum visibility and a constant working space, facilitating safe final suturing.
